Human Pyramid

Catalonian festivals often feature a Human Pyramid or �Castells� and Tarragona gathers teams of contestants every other year for a competition.� The Castells teams, drawing on 80 brave and dedicated souls, can reach up to 10 levels of people. The topmost competitor is� a small (and very light) 4 or 5-year old child who can climb all the way up to the top and stand up proudly. (Yes, they wear helmets). Head to Tarragona, south of Barcelona, for the annual festival in October to see myriad teams compete in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
